Matias Carafa – Dark Matter [Just Movement]

Just Movement caps off a successful year by welcoming Matias Carafa to the label for his debut EP. The Argentinean artist began his production career in 2013 with an EP for Michael and Levan and Stiven Rivic's Mistique Music. Now five years on and Matias has found a home on Dopamine Music, Massive Harmony Records and Northern Lights Music. His debut for Just Movement is entitled 'Dark Matter' and looks to be his finest work to date.

Beginning with the title and showcase piece Matias explores mystical sounds and subversive themes. Dark, groovy and a touch mysterious, it's a creation which quickly captures your imagination, pulsating with a swing heavy momentum as crisp effects and bubbly arps further saturate your senses. The main break proves impactful, spanning almost two minutes in length, advancing the narrative with moments of drama and tension, before an unassuming drop ensures a great reaction from your dance floor.

The companion piece 'The Fly' sits in a similar sonic space with it's ambient intro and trippy narrative. Once again it's a cosmic storyboard of effects that burrows deep into your subconscious as astral arps and strong tonal themes elevate the mood as the main break commences. Smooth chord changes bring emotive moments, while gaseous fills and alien-like designs deliver anticipatory vibes, perfectly shifting energy into an epic finale. It rounds out an exceptional EP from Matias who has no doubt presented his finest work to date here. 2019 certainly looks bright for this talented Argentine
