Luciano Pelliza – The Universe Just for Us [Or Two Strangers]

Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers welcomes Luciano Pelliza to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Luciano Pelliza has emerged from his country’s progressive house scene as an artist to watch. A pair of releases in 2022 via Transensations and Or Two Strangers affiliate Strangers Beats brought attention to the talented Cordoba resident, a rising force who had firmly established a groovy yet melodic take on the genre. Moving forward, 2023 proved to be a breakout year for Luciano, as built on that early momentum with a consistent and much more prolific release schedule, one highlighted by projects for Deep Down Music, Droid9 and Moonlight, amongst others. Now, embarking on the biggest release of his career, Luciano adds Or Two Strangers to his resume with a three-track showcase entitled ‘The Universe Just For Us’.

Beginning with the title selection Luciano aims squarely at the dance floor which sets the tone for the EP. Full of uplifting qualities, the Cordoba resident smoothly blends punchy kick drums and warm rolling grooves with wavy arps and pulsating bass stabs for a smooth rush of energy leading into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it’s a colourful stereo field of buzzing effects and hyperbolic arps which marry beautifully for a healthy dose of melodic tension, before a wave of cosmic effects cues a stripped down drop and hypnotic club-effective finale.

Moving forward to ‘Floating In The Void', Luciano showcases a deeper side of his studio repertoire. Booming yet dreamy, its smooth cruising vibe instantly commands your attention, through snatches of flashing percussion, buzzing stabs and light melodic fragments. Airy pads add depth and space, while keeping the atmosphere light and fresh for a series of catchy synth mutations to add swing to the groove. Peaking across the second of two breaks, the lead theme gently percolates against a backdrop of phasing noise, before perfectly segueing into a rhythmic conclusion.

Rounding out the release are the mesmerizing sounds of 'Green Planet'. Looking to bring greater depth to the collection, the Cordoba resident flexes yet another side of his studio repertoire here, with a driving hypnotic mood that feels perfectly dialed for mid-set or morning play. A spoken word vocal sample steals the air, resonating beautifully against layers of finely tuned percussion and gaseous effects, before a series of key changing arps delivers a finale that is equal parts uplifting and cosmic.
