Kermesse – Limbo [The Magic Movement]

Kermesse is an Argentinian duo whose style sits between organic house and indie dance, and their new release is a four-track EP on The Magic Movement record label run by Noema.

All four of the downtempo tracks have jovial melodies and quirky vocals that enrich the groove with their captivating flow that compliments the shuffling rhythms of the percussion.

After dropping an album via The Magic Movement in 2018, Kermesse are already an established part of the label’s roster, but they have also contributed music to other imprints such as Sol Selectas, Bar 25 Music, Stil Vor Talent and LNDKHN.

“On The Road” opens the release with its jerking rhythms that give the track a subtle reggae vibe which is offset by the bleeping analogue synths and trippy vocals. “Limbo” is the second cut, and it had intertwining melodies and sweeping synths that lay a foundation for the soothing tones of the vocal. “Melting” is a very psychedelic track with vocals about melting into one’s surroundings, and “Wawanko” closes the release with a dusty vocal sample and a spooky atmosphere.

Overall it’s a very accomplished release with a musicality that’s not always heard in electronic music, and some of the DJs supporting the release include Nick Warren, Acid Pauli, Be Svendsen and Sabo.
