Kenan Savrun – Medieval [Soundteller Records]

Adding more fresh talent to their roster, Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Kenan Savrun to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Ankara, the Turkish artist has a long history as a DJ dating back to 2003, having shared the booth with Alex Niggemann, Eli & Fur, Andy Bros, Victor Ruiz and Oliver Huntemann. As a producer he's notched releases on Stellar Fountain's Astrowave and Stripped Digital. Now stepping up for his Soundteller debut, Kenan presents his 'Medieval' EP.

Although early in his production career Kenan's affinity for crafting mystical progressive minded creations has become known amongst the genre's die-hard fans. On 'Medieval' he continues that trend with a smooth, hypnotic number that resonates on a deeper level. Warm grooves and tranquil lines dominate the storyboard, quickly putting you in a dream like trance, before a well crafted break unveils a distinct vocal sample, adding just the right amount of drama to set up a pulsating finale.

The companion piece ‘Ancient’ finds Kenan following a similar hypnotic ethos which was established in 'Medieval'. It’s tight, punchy groove is flanked with vibrant tones and crisp percussion, while timely effects and crunchy rhythms drive the narrative forward. It’s evolving storyboard builds a delicate tension on through the break, as a new melodic layer descends over a bed of rippling bass tones for a gorgeous moment to complete the EP. It rounds out two smooth and exhilarating productions from Kenan who is yet another great addition to the Soundteller Records roster. Highly recommended.
