Releases Kaldera – Reason of Necessary [ICONYC] By Release Promo Posted on 12th May 2020 7 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Kaldera makes his much anticipated debut on John Johnson's ICONYC with 'Reason of Necessary'. Born and based in Berlin, the German artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for the better part of a decade. His unique blend of organic house and melodic techno has found a home on Constant Circles, Dear Deer, HMWL and Lump Records. Now embarking on the most anticipated project of his career, Kaldera debuts on ICONYC with 'Reason of Necessary' alongside remixes from Lutzenkirchen and Vanita. Beginning with the original mix Kaldera explores both astral and emotive narratives. Nicely contoured beats and a chugging groove sit at the foundation, while electric rhythms and percussive splashes fill in the framework. A tasteful effects narrative adds further cosmic leanings, before warm swells flow through a series of heartfelt chord changes. The journey continues to evolve across a second act, highlighted by fuzzed out chord stabs and a cascading theme, which fully saturates your senses as a rush of beats sparks a powerful drop. The first interpretation of 'Reason of Necessary' is provided by Lutzenkirchen who makes his label debut. Tobias Lutzenkirchen aka Lutzenkirchen hails from Germany and his unique take on tech and deep house has found a home on Blufin, Frequenza and Great Stuff Recordings. Now making his first appearance on ICONYC, Lutzenkirchen provides an emotive techno interpretation which complements the original quite nicely. Through distinctive design and tight transitions the German artist has created a peak time framework which provides the perfect anchor for a wealth of euphoric themes. With a slight nod to the original, creamy keys and trance-like synths marry beautifully across an intense break, before that elastic-like groove returns for a driving journey home. And for the less melodically inclined there is also a dub version which focuses more on rhythm, groove and fragmented themes to get it's message to the dance floor. Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation is Vanita who returns to the label for her second appearance. Based in Switzerland but with Italian roots, Vanessa Spolidoro aka Vanita has enjoyed an impressive decade long stretch of releases. Her tough yet musical take on house and techno has found a home on BeatFreak, Einmusika and KATERMUKKE. Having provided her well received 'Jawla' track to the label's 'Elements Berlin' collection in February of 2019, Vanita now returns for her first remix. It’s tough, rolling groove is perfectly carved, adorned with fiery percussion and astral effects. Smooth and emotive across the first act, it's subtle build quickly commands your attention, eventually leading to a hazy break, before shifting energy into a narrative of quirky design which ultimately makes the track so memorable. An inspired interpretation from Vanita and one which rounds out another must have release from John Johnson's ICONYC.
