Born and raised in Argentina, Julian Nates emerged from his country's progressive music landscape in 2017. Noted for his attention to detail and inventive percussive arrangements, Julian's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an exhilarating experience. Choosey in his projects, the Cordoba resident lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Antrim's Or Two Strangers, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J have been steadfast supporters along the way. Having made his Musique de Lune debut with a contribution to the label's 'Rayons De Lune' collection, Julian would go on to produce his first artist EP for the label 'Crystal Eyes'. Hello Progressive Astronaut friends and everyone who has come to read this note. It’s a pleasure for me to share with you this musical selection that I consider key in my journey into Progressive House. Each of these tracks, in its own time, helped me realize that Progressive House was where I needed to be. There is no particular order for the tracks, but each had a different impact on me.

John Digweed & Nick Muir vs Guy J - Heaven Scent (Original Mix) [Bedrock Records]

This is one of the tracks that marked the beginning of my deep immersion into Progressive House. The power of this track and its unique dynamics come from the multiple layers of sound that create a completely cohesive and immersive atmosphere. "Heaven Scent" showed me the complexity and depth that this genre can offer and was crucial in my decision to continue exploring Progressive House.

Alex O’Rion – Muriwai (Original Mix) [Sudbeat Music]

"Muriwai" is one of those tracks that I listened to on loop for a long time. The melody and atmosphere of this track captivated me and allowed me to connect deeply with Progressive House.

Starsailor - Four To The Floor (Thin White Duke Mix)

As a teenager, I used to listen to a lot of British Indie Rock, and Starsailor was a band I always liked. I clearly remember listening to this remix and how it was one of my first encounters with electronic music. It was a turning point that led me to explore beyond rock into the world of electronic music and eventually into Progressive House.

Underworld – Cowgirl

This was a track that had a significant impact on me. With "Cowgirl," I discovered Underworld, and they have since been a major influence on me.

Quivver - Happy (feat. Cari Golden) [Raid Recordings]

"Happy" is one of those tracks that comes up in your musical journey and surprises you with its groove. What caught my attention about this track was how the groove becomes a central element of the song. This track made me reflect on the importance of groove in dance music and inspired me to explore further in that direction.

Röyksopp - Sordid Affair (Maceo Plex Remix) & Odd Parents - Learn to Fly (Maceo's Flight Home Mix)

There are two tracks by Maceo Plex that, personally, have made me realize the power of music to evoke deep emotions and elevate you beyond the earthly plane. These tracks showed me how music can transport you to an emotionally enriching state, far from the daily routine.

Eelke Kleijn – Space Disco (Original Mix) [Toolroom Trax]

From the beginning, Eelke Kleijn’s music has been a great inspiration to me, and this track is undoubtedly the one that has had the most impact on me.

Danny Howells – On The Moon (Original Mix) [Sudbeat Music]

This is the other track that definitively introduced me to Progressive House. It undoubtedly set the path for me to follow within this style.

Steve Parry - Flippant (Original Mix) [Bedrock Records]

Another track that I listened to on repeat for a long time. I remember that when I first heard it, the acid sound used by Steve captivated me. It’s definitely a track that caught my attention due to the chemistry I felt with it, and even years later, it still evokes the same feeling in me.
