Musique de Lune welcomes Julian Nates back to the label for a new EP 'Double Stop'. Born and raised in Argentina, Julian emerged from his country's progressive music landscape in 2017. Noted for his attention to detail and inventive percussive arrangements, Julian's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an exhilarating experience. Choosey in his projects, the Cordoba resident lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Antrim's Or Two Strangers, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J have been steadfast supporters along the way. Having made his Musique de Lune debut with a contribution to the label's 'Rayons De Lune' collection, Julian would go on to produce his first artist EP for the label 'Crystal Eyes'. Landing in February of last year, it set the course for Julian's return to The Soundgarden for his first artist showcase, one which would round out 2023 on a strong note. Now, presenting his first project of 2024, Julian returns to Musique de Lune with the much anticipated 'Double Stop'.

Title track 'Double Stop' leads the release off and with that we get to hear a slightly different side of Julian's repertoire. While the framework of the track is undeniably progressive, the lead elements are guitar-based and the vibes are not only super unique but work incredibly well. Warm, full and free flowing; Julian’s craftsmanship reveals itself across the slow-burning piece, one where laser-like strums and percolating synths get peppered with skittering rhythms and rolling percussion for the ultimate party record.

Selection two 'Slide Away' keeps tempo and energy high, once again anchored by one of Julian's unmistakable grooves. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it's a series of wave-like drones and hopeful pads which engulf your attention whole, creating a ceremonial backdrop for rejuvenating melodies, misty glitches and atmospheric swells to paint scenic storyboard.

Rounding out the release is 'Dystopic Bend' which further hammers down Julian's elusive vision for this project. As played by Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren at this year's Loveland Festival, it's reverberating grooves and rolling rhythms carve out a trek through mountainous dancefloor trails for strong first act. Seemingly unbound by gravity, soulful guitar gestures sweep across Julian's distinct aesthetic, before a long and well-crafted build sparks a frenzied finale to round out the EP on an epic note. Highly recommended.
