Joe Burns – Rainfall EP [Deepwibe Underground]

Joe Burns returns to Deepwibe Underground with a new EP entitled 'Rainfall'. The UK artist first appeared on the Russian imprint in March of 2018 with the well received 'Pivotal', while also making three appearances on sister label Deepwibe Records. Splitting time between Halifax and Leeds, Joe's unique approach to production now returns to Deepwibe Underground with a new artist EP.

Spread across three tracks it’s the enchanting vibes of the title selection which open the release. Funky and nostalgic in equal measure, it’s a rhythmic journey for the heart and mind. Warm grooves, luminous arps and a gorgeous vocal element unite across this seven minute journey. The main break is perhaps the emotional core of the track, a nostalgic centrepiece where the vocal narrative expands atop a key changing foundation, while percussive flurries and tasteful effects cue a powerful finale.

The second selection ‘Life Beyond’ furthers the groovy leanings of the EP. Anchored by a warm, but sightly darker undercurrent, it’s a bouncy arp and lively percussion which resonate throughout the first act. A healthy complement of rhythmic elements adds momentum as the narrative shifts into overdrive. Low end swells add an emotive mood leading into the break, stripping right down for a percussive build and imminently bouncy conclusion.

Rounding out the release are the pumping symphonic qualities of ‘Albia’. Perhaps the most house inspired of the three, it relies on dynamic percussion and orchestral arps to carry it’s romping groove. An indistinct vocal wail adds intrigue while the primary symphonic themes return to highlight the main break and set up an epic finale. A classic stormer from Joe which rounds out a nice return to Deepwibe Underground for the UK artist. Don't miss it.
