JFR – Danda [Secret Feelings]

Secret Feelings opens the new year with a new single from label boss JFR. Hailing from Argentina but currently calling Spain home, Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR has enjoyed a prolific 2024 one that saw the Barcelona resident make his debut on All Day I Dream with the thematic sounds of 'Lasa'. It has been Secret Feelings which has been home to the majority of JFR's output across 2024 however, finding a cohesive balance between progressive and organic house, in turn racking up seven original productions on the imprint, alongside a host of impressive remixes from DJ Ruby, Gux Jimenez, K Loveski, Mayro, Mazayr and NOIYSE PROJECT amongst many others. Choosey in his remix projects, the Argentine's lone rework of the year landed in the heart of the summer season, a stylish rendition of 'What Were the Skies Like When You Were Young' by Sturge via Musique de Lune, an imprint where he acts as the label manager. Now, as 2025 begins to take shape, JFR returns to Secret Feelings with 'Danda', alongside a remix from Ilias Katelanos & Plecta.

Although JFR's productions always arrive with a great dancefloor sensibility, 'Danda' showcases his musicality as an artist foremost. Panoramic arps, heavenly vocal stabs and wistful siren-like tones set in motion an emotional roller-coaster, with the Barcelona resident's powerful beats and well-carved grooves keeping that club-effective energy high throughout. There is always an unpredictably and uniqueness to JFR's productions and 'Danda' is no exception, he has tactfully developed his own inimitable sound and this is something which will carry him quite far.

Organic house super-duo Ilias Katelanos & Plecta round out the release with the lone interpretation of 'Danda'. With 2025 already yielding strong remixes for Bekool, roku and Univack, the Greek production team makes an impressive Secret Feelings debut here, stripping down 'Danda' into their own world of intricate beats and utopian meanderings. Deep, delicate and instantly charming, it's sense of restraint offers a completely different approach to the Original, and with a whimsical sounding break sitting as the centrepiece, it makes those acidic deviations all the more impactful.
