Analog Jungs Constellation imprint opens the new year by welcoming Ivan Aliaga to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the talent-rich region of Cordoba, Ivan's musical palate takes reference from the progressive genre's vast spectrum; in turn creating an authentic voice that is all his own. Noted for his attention to detail, tough kick drums and electric design quality, Ivan's craft shines through vividly, making each one of his creations an exhilarating experience. On the strength of releases via Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and The Soundgarden, Ivan has earned the praise of genre trendsetters Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed and more. 2023 proved to be a breakout year for the progressive house phenom, adding Cid Inc’s Replug Records and Alex O’Rion’s Solis Records to his resume. Now, following a collaborative EP with Jamie Stevens to begin the year, Ivan makes his much-anticipated Constellation debut with ‘Robotica / Black Whale’.

Beginning with 'Robotica' Ivan puts a firm focus on the dance floor which sets the tone for the EP. Full of rejuvenating energies, the Cordoba resident expertly blends robust kick drums and electric grooves with crunchy rhythms and industrial-like effects. Airy vocal choirs and cleverly co-axed stabs steal the air, furthering the first movement leading into the break, while mesmerizing machine-progression casts a darker monochrome over the journey, before an understated build cues a rush of twisted main room alchemy.

Rounding out the release are the trippy hypnotic qualities of 'Black Whale'. Looking to bring greater depth to his portfolio, Ivan flexes a deeper side of his studio repertoire here, with a slow-burning quality where pneumatic energy and hyperbolic effects cruise into a timeless breakdown. Pitch-bending themes work in perfect unison across a glowing backdrop as the interlude evolves, shapeshifting forward into a forest of alien-like electronics, for a stomping finale to cap off the release on an introspective note. Highly recommended.
