Hot TuneiK – About You [The Purr]

The latest from Jelly For The Babies The Purr imprint finds Hot TuneiK making his label debut. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss has been finding himself in deeper waters of late so joining The Purr seems like a natural fit. Now following a remix of Andre Absolute’s ‘Change’ (courtesy of One Of A Kind) he makes his first appearance on The Purr with ‘About You’.

The title track comes with many of Hot TuneiK’s much loved production hallmarks. A warm, spacious and wonderfully contoured groove sits at the foundation while jangly motifs and intricately laid out percussion add swing and depth. The rhythmic strength of Hot’s production’s has always been a highlight but on a deeper creation it’s all the more prevalent, add to that a musical break which captivates both the heart and mind and you’ve got a superb all round production.

The companion piece ‘Lalalang’ is equally brilliant with it’s rolling cadence and dulcet hooks. A mild afro ting to the drums is a nice touch and the main break proves to be absolutely mesmerizing, shifting energy from hypnotic to emotive with a veteran’s ease. Two stunning tracks from one of Mexico’s hottest producers which makes for a great debut on One Of A Kind. Highly Recommended.
