Hailing from Serbia, Hobin Rude first emerged in 2020 on the strength of a remix for Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint. His progressive sounds quickly found favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers in Armen Miran, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, eventually leading to releases via Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Plattenbank, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden and WARPP. Also an established DJ, the Belgrade resident has played across the globe, showcasing his keen sense of dancefloor dynamics alongside elite international talents Guy J, Roy Rosenfeld, Tim Green and Volen Sentir, amongst others. With 2025 already yielding key projects for iNU and Mango Alley, Hobin now adds Higher States to his resume with ‘Lunar Bloom’.
To celebrate the release of 'Lunar Moon', Hobin has curated his ten favourite timeless tracks. Enjoy.
Cigarettes After Sex – Dark Vacay
This song feels like a slow-motion memory of something bittersweet, like watching a love fade away while still holding onto the warmth of it. It is my all time favourite music group.
SYML – Where’s My Love
Every time I hear this, it tugs at something deep inside me, a desperate search for someone who’s drifted away, emotionally or physically. Definitely timeless.
Sufjan Stevens – Fourth of July
This song feels like a quiet conversation with ghosts, a lullaby sung to memories that hurt too much to hold but are too precious to let go. "We're all gonna die" lingers in my mind, not as fear, but as a sad, beautiful truth. It’s the sound of acceptance.
Galija – Da li si spavala
There’s something deeply personal in this song, like a conversation that was never finished. It takes me back to moments of vulnerability, where emotions ran deep but words failed. It is also a Serbian song that is 30 years old, so it makes it even more special.
Gibran Alcocer – Idea 7
This track feels like a fleeting thought that suddenly overwhelms me, a rush of emotions without words to describe them. The simplicity of it, the way it builds and breathes, mirrors the way certain memories resurface unexpectedly, bringing both comfort and ache, and Gibran is by far my favourite pianist.
Cigarettes After Sex – Cry
When I listen to this sink, it is like drowning in a love that’s already slipping away. The whispered words, the slow, hypnotic rhythm... I always understand why I fell in love with this band so much after listening to something like this.
Gary Jules – Mad World
A song that perfectly captures the weight of the world when everything feels overwhelming. The quiet sadness in the piano, the weary voice... A masterpiece.
Guy J – The Fall
My favourite progressive house track of all time, and i think nothing will change it. A lot of memories connect me with this one, so i will just leave it at that.
Gibran Alcocer, Andrea Vanzo – Idea 25
Gibran again... There’s something delicate yet powerful in this track, like the feeling of a single moment stretching out forever. It brings me into a reflective state, where thoughts and feelings blur together, leaving me with a sense of longing I can’t quite define.
Matthew Herbert – It’s Only (DJ Koze Remix)
One of the most unique and emotionally strongest tracks i've ever heard. The depth of it is on another level, and afterhours is a perfect time to listen to this masterpiece.
