GuyRo – Cooling The Plasma [Manual Music]

GuyRo returns in a big way with his debut EP for Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music. The Irish born, Spain based artist is best known for his releases on ICONYC and Balkan Connection. The former being the vehicle for his last artist EP 'Avalon' from July of last year. Subsequent remixes for ICONYC's Noir division and Stellar Fountain rounded out what was a hugely successful 2018, ultimately setting the stage for his Manual Music debut 'Cooling The Plasma'.

The EP begins with the title selection which flexes the more progressive oriented side of GuyRo's repertoire. On a backbone of warm beats, organic drums and fluid rhythms comes tepid atmospheres and radiant themes. Charming overlays coupled with smooth chord changes makes for a remarkably soulful and ever evolving storyboard. Vocal fragments and tastefully mind bending modulation make the break a memorable one, moving the storyboard in a blissful final. There's something quite charming about this, a creation which comes from the heart, one to cherish for special occasions and no doubt a highly memorable selection for your dance floor.

The release concludes with 'Mono Tactics' which like it's predecessor is quite melodic but in a much quirkier more esoteric fashion. Immediately captivating, it’s effervescent design is striking, bursting with ultrasonic character, while a rolling rhythmic core and bulbous low end make for an irresistible, hip swinging groove. The word's borderless or widescreen are often used to best describe GuyRo's creations. Perhaps most apt however would be timeless, both in sensibility and execution, which is exactly what this EP accomplishes and much more. Highly recommended.
