Strange Town Recordings begins the Spring season by welcoming Golan Zocher to the label for his debut single. The Colombian born, Israel based producer has been a beloved artist in the progressive underground for several years. With a pedigree that includes releases on Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and Lonya’s Asymmetric Recordings Golan continues to be one of the genres most in demand artists. Now making his first appearance on Strange Town Recordings, Golan presents his new single 'The Element' alongside remixes from Nick Muir and Kasper Koman.

Golan always seems to find the right balance between melody and groove which 'The Element' once again balances to perfection. It’s free flowing storyboard is incredibly captivating, running smoothly as gentle piano stabs and buzzing electronics unite in a symphony of sound. Timely modulation on the latter comes at precisely the right moments across a near two minute break, making for a euphoric, almost trance-like appeal. Add to that a very rhythmic and dance floor inspired core and you’ve got one of Golan's most satisfying and timeless productions of the year.

First up on the remixes is Nick Muir who also makes his label debut. Famed for being one half of Bedrock during the golden era of progressive house, Nick and John Digweed were responsible for some of the genres most beloved tracks, namely 'For What You Dream Of', 'Heaven Scent', 'Voices' and 'Emerald'. Fast forward to present day and Nick continues to collaborate with John, working on projects for Watergate, Systematic and of course Bedrock. Now making his Strange Town debut, Nick puts a unique twist on 'The Element'. The groove and overall vibe toughens up for proper peak time appeal. The buzzing swells which played so prominently in the original have been used to perfection, reprocessed for a long tension building effect coming out of the break, which is sure to bring some fire to your dance floor.

The release concludes with Kasper Koman returning to the label for his second remix. The Dutch artist first appeared on the Canadian imprint in May of last year with a stunning interpretation of Michael A's 'Nothing Is Useless'. Also laying claim to releases on Guy J’s Lost & Found Records and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records, Kasper now returns to Strange Town with a stunning remix of 'The Element'. Deep and sultry from the outset it’s warm, spacious groove is immediately inviting. The piano narrative gets muted slightly for a less distinct and ultimately more emotive feeling. Set against a delicate arp and wispy back drop, it's this running narrative which ultimately makes for such an impassioned listen. Beautiful work from Kasper once again and definitely one you're going to be hearing a lot in the coming months. Highly recommended.
