Four Candles – Chain Emotion [Keep Thinking]

Keep Thinking continues a strong year by welcoming Four Candles back to the label with 'Chain Emotion'. Hailing from the UK, Kris Brown aka Four Candles has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over two decades. Operating under a variety of alias, Kris has showcased his music via BC2, Crossfade Sounds, ICONYC and LuPS. Now returning to his comfortable home of Keep Thinking, Kris presents a new single alongside a remix from Weird Sounding Dude.

Beginning with the original mix Four Candles explores a gorgeous blend of fluid rhythms and charming musicality. Warm beats and layers of effervescent percussion set the foundation for a narrative of haunting vocal motifs and hazy harmonics. Coming to full fruition across the break, the vocal expands, elevating mood onwards to a tranquil, arp driven finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Chain Emotion' is provided by Weird Sounding Dude who makes his label debut. The Indian artist has been on a steady rise across 2020 with a recent outing on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music highlighting his discography. As one of progressive music's remixers of the moment, Weird Sounding Dude dials in another gem with a great take on 'Chain Emotion'. Taking a cue from the original while adding a sleeker state of mind, the Bangalore resident crafts a lovely complement to the original. Plush beats and perfectly contoured bass create a massive sense of space, while lively percussion adds further bounce to the narrative. The vocal gets utilized nicely, drifting across the electric framework, as warm chord stabs transfer energy through the main break to a groovy final movement. An exceptional remix from Weird Sounding Dude, capping off an excellent release for Keep Thinking. Highly recommended.
