Forerunners – Vacant Deception [We Are The Underground]

We Are The Underground return this week by welcoming Forerunners back to the label for his debut single. The US artist last appeared on the Argentinean imprint in February of 2016 with a remix of ‘The Message’ by label boss Dark Soul Project. Now following a contribution to the ‘Showcrates’ collection on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music Forerunners presents his latest single alongside remixes from Subandrio and Rich Curtis.

Known for his immaculately produced progressive creations Forerunners ‘Vacant Deception’ comes in as one of his most heartfelt to date. On a backbone of warm, round beats runs a gorgeous atmospheric storyboard and subtle, melodic motifs. It’s a hazy wall of effervescent bliss leading into the break which brings both moments of drama and emotion. Perfectly crafted it’s builds as sweeping noise and spiralling arps coverage for a magic sonic moment, ultimately leading to an exhilarating finale.

It would be hard to come up with two more capable remixers than Subandrio and Rich Curtis, and both have done a fantastic job here. First up Subandrio makes his label debut in style with a mix that showcases all of his much loved production hallmarks. There’s such a rich and interesting character in his sound, very electric and live feeling, definitely perfect for an up for it dance floor and this remix packs considerable punch, with its fluid lines, grainy percussive waves and a break that takes the vibe further skyward.

Closing the release out is Rich Curtis who is fresh off amazing remixes for Movement Recordings and Particles. The Aussie artist continues on form with an amazing interpretation of 'Vacant Deception' to close the release out. The tempo comes down just a touch for a deep journey that exudes warmth and emotion. Timely drops and clever transitional shifts keep the energy and attention level at a perfect spot before a gorgeous break furthers the warm narrative. Wicked remix from Rich which rounds out a superb release from We Are The Underground. Highly Recommended.
