The latest from SpeakOf & Santini’s False Face Music welcomes Fomatic to the label for his debut EP. The Dutch artist has found a home on Estroe’s Rosedale Records where his elegant take on melodic techno has flourished. Now following a remix for Symmetric Records, Fomatic makes his False Face debut with ‘Not Enough Data To Feel ‘ alongside a remix from SpeakOf & Santini.

Spread across three tracks it’s the wistful title piece which gets the proceedings underway. Over a warm, rippled underbelly comes charming melodies and dulcet motifs. Almost symphonic at points, it’s undeniably timeless, with a flowing elegance that keeps you coming back for more. The energy shifts with ‘Why Should I’, which is a stunning electronica creation. On a backbone of broken beats lies dusty themes and haunting synths, before gently building to a rush of warm swells and blissful harmonics. Moving closer to the dance floor again, it’s ‘Lushes’ which rounds out the three originals. Once again the warmth and character which emanates from the design is absolutely astounding. Just a joy to listen to, yet incredibly powerful with a two playful and perfectly intertwined themes sitting against a gentle wall of phasing noise.

The lone interpretation of ‘Lushes’ is provided by the False Face Music bosses SpeakOf & Santini. In addition to having their music supported by Kolsch, Nicole Moudaber, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Blond:ish the Canadian duo are also well known DJs in their home city of Toronto, having opened for Maceo Plex earlier this year and a variety of other international figures. Always creative remixers SpeakOf & Santini provide a rousing rendition of ‘Lushes’ to close the release out. What’s so lovely about this is how genuine it sounds, much more stripped back and dubby than the original, the musical elements find their spots extremely well, while the running narrative never loses sight of the dance floor. Fresh music from a duo who you are going to be hearing a lot more about in the future.
