Releases Fer Castro – Early Riser [Balkan Connection] By Release Promo Posted on 7th February 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Continuing their torrid pace as 2018 begins Balkan Connection welcomes Fer Castro to the label for his debut EP. The Argentinean artist made an impact upon entering the progressive house underground with releases on Nicholas Van Orton’s BCSA and Michael A’s Genesis Music. Fer now steps up for his first EP on Balkan Connection alongside remixes from Analog Jungs and Dyo Atoma. Beginning with the title track ‘Early Riser’ Fer explores the traditional confines of the genre with rolling grooves and gorgeous melodic motifs. A playful first act creates a great dance floor sensibility, perfectly setting up a break of intriguing vocal elements and stunning effects, ultimately leading to a feel good finale. The companion piece ‘Second Thoughts’ lowers the tempo for a more thoughtful, musical journey. A lovely complement to ‘Early Riser’ and no doubt a taste of more great music to come from Fer in 2018. There are two interpretations of ‘Early Riser’ which sees two of the progressive scenes hottest production teams tackle the track. First up the Argentinean duo Analog Jungs bring the composition closer to the dance floor with a strong rhythmic core and a stunning percussive complement. The energy is palpable throughout, which a short break adds to quite nicely, bringing atmospheric resonance and a smooth bridge into a fluid conclusion. The second and final interpretation comes from Dyo Atoma who makes their third appearance on the label. Comprised of Russian artists Sam Scheme and Jiminy Hop, Dyo Atoma has made their presence felt in the progressive house underground with outstanding releases on Clinique Recordings, Just Movement and PHW Elements. Their ‘Early Riser’ interpretation does not disappoint, taking a driving, melodic approach which is nicely suited to a variety of dance floor moments. A longer break brings a pixie-esque vibe, albeit briefly, before getting washed away for thunderous slabs of bass and waves of percussion. A lovely remix from Sam and Jiminy which caps off another fine release from Balkan Connection. Don’t miss it.
