The Sri Lankan artist has become a primary contributor to the Russian imprint with this being his sixth appearance. The Colombo resident also lays claim to releases on Baikonur Recordings, Lick My Lips Records and Plusquam Chillout where his unique take on progressive music has flourished. Now following an EP for Welcome! Records Fazlen lands back on Deepwibe Underground with 'Luna'. The pure progressive sounds of the title track lead the release off and show just how apt the Sri Lankan artist is at creating groovy, symphonic concepts. It’s rolling cadence builds effortlessly across the first act, quickly becoming infectious as timely effects and sweeping atmospheres carry into the main break. Fragmented melodies and ghostly vocal pads add a cosmic element to the proceedings while a rolling cadence delivers tension below, eventually peaking for a powerful yet groovy drop. The second selection 'Analog Dream’ is equally impressive, coming in with a similar sonic ethos but with a distinct nostalgic nod. Vibrant electronics and spacey motifs converge against a robust groove, before a band of meandering melancholia leads into a meditative break that's sure to capture your imagination. The release concludes with ‘Swamp Things’ which is the most peak time of the three and appropriately so. The tempo and energy seem to rise here even though the BPM is lower than it's predecessor. Hypnotic themes resonate throughout the piece while thick slabs of bass power a groovy foundation. This has a unique combination of power and flow, making it ideal as a peak time jam or morning riser, and the break is full of drama which should more than keep your dance floor on high alert. It rounds out three stunning creations from Fazlen who continues to rise up through the progressive house landscape as 2019 winds to a close. Highly recommended.
