Estroe – One Eye On The Past One On The Future [Lessismore]

Lessismore returns welcoming Estroe back to the label with a brand new EP entitled 'One Eye On The Past One On The Future'. The Dutch artist and Rosedale Records label boss is synonymous with creating innovative, outside the box productions. It's this approach that has landed her releases on Bedrock Records, Connaisseur Recordings and Flying Circus, with Dave Clarke and John Digweed being two of her most steadfast supporters.

Beginning with 'Projectie' Estroe explores fluid free form designs across a distinctly modern framework. The relationship between the kick and bass line immediately stands out, incredibly compelling and undeniably smooth, while astral effects and percussive flurries adorn the framework. Shifting tones bring an air of tension before mallet-like clusters add further fuel to already pleasing rhythmic core.

The companion piece 'The Whole Show' is a touch more linear in design, building with an almost nervous or anticipatory energy across the first act. The narrative shifts into emotive territory though as the main break begins to take shape. Amidst a haze of sonic dust; warm chord changes, soothing pads and luminous tones play off each other beautifully, before shifting back into a nervous energy, eventually ending with a return to reflective warmth during the final act. Two stunning creations from Estroe which makes for an essential release from Lessismore. Highly recommended.
