Releases EMPHI – Combat [One Of A Kind] By Release Promo Posted on 4th March 2021 7 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Enjoying a steady rise as 2021 reaches it's third month, EMPHI debuts on One Of A Kind with 'Combat'. Although under a year into his production career the Swedish artist already lays claim to an impressive resume. Releases on Yotto’s Odd One Out, Balkan Connection, Hoomidaas and Transensations have all been sensational, firmly etching the Stockholm resident as one of progressive music's top new comers. Now continuing to build on that momentum, EMPHI debuts on One Of A Kind with 'Combat' alongside remixes from ARTN and Scippo. Already known for his infectious, club friendly melodies, EMPHI builds on that sonic ethos with 'Combat'. Full and warm from the outset, it's robust yet airy framework is full of momentous drive and effervescent character. It's this compelling architecture with lays the foundation for a hugely catchy lead line, flowing through subtle twists and turns, before giving way to charming overlays during an impassioned break and euphoric finale. Providing the first remix and also making his label debut is ARTN. Hailing from Beirut, the Lebanese artist first appeared in 2019 with a release via AMPISH's Sidra imprint. Well received, the single enjoyed a six month long stay in Beatport's sales chart, while also earning support from Gabriel & Dresden. Fast forward one year and ARTN has showcased his music via aboriginal, Electronic Tree, Mango Alley and Modern Agenda. Continuing what has been a prolific start to 2021, the Beirut native now debuts on One Of A Kind with a deadly interpretation of 'Combat'. The main themes are well represented here but a radically reworked groove is where the magic lies. Expertly manicured bass stabs bring a chunkier feel to the foundation, flowing through cosmic ripples and heady undulation, while a less distinct take on the melody delivers just the right amount of emotion over the top. Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Combat' is Scippo. Born in Rio Gallegos but now based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist released his first production through One Of A Kind in 2019, remixing Iso The Kid's 'Soft Waves'. A contribution to Nick Warren's Balance compilation and Sudbeat's 'Showcrates' Vol. 6 followed shortly thereafter. Now presenting his first production of 2021, Scippo returns to One Of A Kind with a rousing rendition of 'Combat'. Opting for a dubbier approach, the Argentine not only crafts a perfect complement to the previous two versions but lays down a timeless progressive journey as well. Focused on rhythm and groove, it's lively percussion and mountainous underbelly work amazingly well together, eventually leading to an effects laden bridge and tastefully poignant finale. Definitely one for the progressive music connoisseurs out there and a fitting end to a great One Of A Kind debut for EMPHI. Highly recommended.
