Eleven Sins – The Night [Mirabilis Records]

Alex Nemec’s Mirabilis Records welcomes Eleven Sins to the label with ‘The Night’. Hailing from Sarajevo, the Bosnian artist has gotten his career off to a great start with releases on Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint and Soundteller Records. Now following a release on British label Lowbit Records, Eleven Sins debuts on Mirabilis with ‘The Night’.

Beginning with ‘Blue Fog’ we get a look into Eleven Sins’ affinity for hypnotic cross pollinated sounds. Deep and driving, it’s meaty low end is warm and wonderfully contoured while dynamic stabs, radiant pads and ghostly vocal gates fill in the framework quite nicely. The effortless feel of the narrative is what’s most appealing here and quite stunning for an artist with only three releases. It’s smooth storyboard along with lovely melodic progression and timely transitions makes this an absolute joy to listen to.

The remaining two selections are equally stunning, beginning with ‘Silent Moon’. The intensity comes up a few notches here with a big, rippling groove and tantalizing arps. A gaseous break adds drama, perfectly setting up an emotive bridge back to the rumbling framework for an exhilarating finale. The release concludes with ‘Scent of a Woman’ which continues the deep, hypnotic ethos of the EP. Again the low end is wonderfully carved and full of ultrasonic character, but what makes this quite a unique piece are the brassy motifs and how they play off the arpeggiated clusters. It’s heady stuff that makes for a great listen several times over and will no doubt submit a dance floor into submission as well. It rounds out three stunning tracks from Eleven Sins who makes a big statement with his Mirabilis debut. Definitely looking forward to hearing more from this exciting new talent. Highly Recommended.
