EL1AX – Rainier [Soundteller Records]

Rounding out the month of August by adding a new talent to their roster, Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes EL1AX to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from India but currently calling Seattle USA home, Elias Attumally aka EL1AX draws inspiration from Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Paul Kalkbrenner, Guy J, Cid Inc. and Patrice Bäumel. Having made his debut with a contribution to the second edition of Juicebox Music's 'Tales of Time' collection, EL1AX now lands on Soundteller Records for his first ever artist EP entitled 'Rainier'.

Beginning with the title selection, EL1AX crafts a deep slice of progressive house with a tantalizing melodic narrative. Played out over eight magical minutes, it’s well carved groove, pulsating rhythms and heady effects come together for amazing moments. Hopeful pads emerge as the first act evolves, elevating mood and perfectly shifting energy into a glowing break. Spanning over a minute in length the centrepiece slowly melts down to an emotional reservoir of sound, tastefully building anticipation towards an atmospheric finale.

The release continues with the percussive sounds of ‘Birg’. Smooth and tasteful much like its predecessor, it’s robust groove and spirited effects make for a pleasurable sonic story. A forest of clattering percussion adds swing to the groove as momentum builds, before acid-like lines and charming overlays shift energy across the break into a groovy finale.

The release concludes with the bigger and equally impressive ‘Schiphol’. Well in line with the previous selections with it’s smooth, free flowing style; a marriage of striking stabs, haunting overlays and clustered percussion blanket a chunky, rolling groove. Once again, the main break is set to delight dance floors with it’s atmospheric disposition and dynamic build, which perfectly shifts energy into a trippy finale. Reflective and memorable, it rounds out a welcome Soundteller debut for EL1AX, who presents an excellent first artist EP here. Highly recommended.
