Following on from the success of 'Scaur', Dmitry Molosh returns to Deepwibe Underground with 'Surface'. Released in March and backed by a remix from rising star EMPHI, Dmitry's 'Scaur' continued what has been a solid partnership with the Estonian imprint, a journey which began at the onset of 2021 with a remix of The Cobb's 'Elysium'. 'Frame' and 'First Ray of Sun' marked Dmitry's first original projects for Deepwibe Underground, both which landed in 2021 with considerable acclaim. Now returning to the label for a second project this year, Dmitry presents 'Surface', alongside remixes from Navar and Sebastian Sellares.

In a year that has already seen Dmitry release the excellent 'Propulsion' and 'Scaur', it is 'Surface' that follows and lands with resounding success. The low end rolls with perfectly contoured undulation and capsizing swing, setting the perfect foundation for a playful melodic line and smooth emotive chord changes. It's one of those tracks where all the parts feel like they're working together in perfect unison and only furthers the sentiment that Dmitry is one of progressive music's leading lights at the moment.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation is Navar. With over a decade's worth of production credits the Dutch artist is widely regarded as one of the underground's most creative talents. His emotive musicality and organic design have led to signings on Guy J’s Lost & Found Records, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Cid Inc’s Replug Records. Over the last calendar year his inimitable production touch has led to standout projects for Clubsonica, Edge, Meanwhile and more. Now adding Deepwibe Underground to his resume, Navar takes 'Surface' into his magical world of detail and idiosyncrasies. Carrying the same whimsical qualities as the original, the Dutch artist looks further and flexes his free thinking muscles with clever co-actions underpinning a fascinating blend of melodic projections, before the inevitable zenith of this exploratory excursion mounts with shape-shifting harmonics and glowing swells converging; achieving a rich, austere timbre over a bed of buoyant beats and dusty percussion.

The release concludes with Sebastian Sellares also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Surface'. Hailing from one of Argentina’s most talent rich regions in Cordoba, Sebastian Sellares has taken his melodic sound to some of progressive music's premiere imprints. UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Antrim’s Or Two Strangers, GMJ and Matter’s meanwhile and US powerhouse Proton Music have all served as landing spots for the Argentine's beloved sound. With stellar remixes for Songspire and Sound Avenue already notched for this year, Sebastian continues to impress with a gorgeous take on 'Surface'. Fuller and more fluid than the original, Sebastian ups tempo and drive, while vibrant percussive arrangements, shape-shifting harmonics and hopeful pads unite for a colourful peak time style rework to close the release out in fine style. A stunning interpretation from Sebastian, which caps off excellent label debuts for both himself and Navar, while Dmitry Molosh makes a triumphant return to one of his primary homes. Highly recommended.
