Whether operating solo or as part of the famed Cream & Deep Fog duo, Polish artist Cream has firmly etched his place in the progressive music landscape. With a discography that dates back almost a decade, the Jarosław resident has showcased his music via 3rd Avenue, Beatfreak Limited, Particles and Proton Music. With a recent and well received release for Canada's Strange Town Recordings, Cream now makes his debut on Deepwibe Underground with a two track artist showcase. The title selection 'Undercover' showcases that deep entrancing sound which Cream has become so loved for. Warm, driving beats and a full, pulsating groove lay the foundation for effervescent arps and nicely manicured percussion. Sweeping effects transition the first act into a break of emotive chord changes and rising modulation. Tension mounts with a rush of noise, before pulling back for a moment of calm as the beats drop for an energetic finale. 'Ketonia' follows suit with a similarly nostalgic sound that complements 'Undercover' quite nicely. A touch livelier and perhaps better suited to peak time, it's muscular groove and clusters of claps give way to a gorgeous melodic break complete with colourful chord changes and swirling effects. Intoxicating and heartfelt in equal measure, it perfectly preludes a stirring finale which rounds out the EP on a reflective note. Two stunning productions from Cream, who is continuing to have his best and most prolific solo year to date. Highly recommended.
