Antrim’s Or Two Strangers opens the new year by welcoming COQUEIT to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, COQUEIT has been a fixture of the progressive house scene across the last four years. The Cordoba resident first rose to prominence with a string of early projects for AH Digital and Droid9 South America, where he established a melodic, progressive style that made him a name to watch. Continuing to perfect his craft going forward, COQUEIT earned the support of genre tastemakers Antrim, Ezequiel Arias, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sahar Z, in turn landing him releases via Mango Alley and Univack. With an appearance on Mango Alley’s ‘Augmented 015’ collection wrapping up a successful 2024, COQUEIT opens the new year with his Or Two Strangers debut ‘Promise’, alongside a remix from Antrim.

Beginning with ‘Promise’, COQUEIT showcases a peak time approach which sets the tone for the EP. Full of dark textures and cutting edge design qualities, the Cordoba resident expertly blends punchy kick drums and tough shapely grooves, with buzzing synth mutations, deconstructed vocals and rolling rhythmic structures for an exhilarating journey into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it’s a field of grainy effects and reprocessed melodies which marry beautifully for a healthy dose of melodic tension, before a colossal wave of drums cues a thunderous drop and epic finale.

Rounding out the two originals are the mesmerizing sounds of 'Static'. Tight, compact and bursting with crunchy energies, the track's first movement is built around punchy grooves, granular stabs and hook-heavy synths, the latter of which carries a swaying energy into the break. The narrative continues to progress across interlude, with trance-inducing pads casting a hopeful tone over a bed of percolating effects, before eventually revealing a flurry of drums and white noise which pushes onwards to an acid driven finale.

The release concludes with Antrim providing the lone interpretation of ‘Promise’. Continuing to operate at a creative and prolific level, the Or Two Strangers boss wrapped up 2024 on a strong note. The release of ‘Grey Skies’, Antrim’s second studio album, proved to be a highlight, along with standout projects for Clubsonica, Nightcolours and Plattenbank. It was Or Two Strangers which acted as the primary outlet for Antrim’s creative vision however, with the Cordoba resident notching thirteen original productions and a remix across the year. Ending 2024 with a well received interpretation of ‘Summer Nights’ by Bemannte & Bruder, Antrim now begins 2024 back on Or Two Strangers with an emotive rendition of ‘Promise’. Opting for a sleek yet peak hour approach, Antrim carefully balances the mood and vibe from the Original with his own distinctively timeless style. Evoking energy and emotion throughout, its hypnagogic motifs and deconstructed vocals unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before a finale of mesmerizing melodic progression ensues.
