Cid Inc – Abyss [Replug]

Beginning 2018 by remixing two of the industry's most revered talents in Nick Warren and Jerome Isma-Ae, Cid Inc now presents his first original project of the year. 'Abyss' is the hugely anticipated follow-up to the Finnish artist's chart topping progressive anthem 'Shifter'. A staple in the sets of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren all throughout 2017, it sat comfortably as one of the genre's best by year's end.

From stripped, punchy beginnings 'Abyss' retains the progressive techno ethos Cid Inc. was instrumental in creating almost a decade ago. Encased in a crisp rhythmic shell, warm bass swells and machine gun cadence drive the foundation. The storyboard evolves with delicate melodic lines and impassioned overlays, eventually melting down into a euphoric break. As the melodies blossom an intensely emotive crescendo is reached as a soulful wail summons a powerful final act.

The companion piece 'From Within' finds Cid Inc. exploring dreamier textures and wistful sonic tapestries. Binding rhythmic flow with distinctive stabs and hypnotic arps makes for a sleek, meditative first act. A perfect prelude of sorts, as tasteful chord changes summon melancholic motifs and hopeful pads, building subtly as a smooth rush embodies warmth towards a purring finale.

Sitting comfortably in the present, 'Abyss' maintains that timeless flair which embodies Cid Inc's work. Two striking tracks for the impending spring season and no doubt a look ahead to more exceptional music from the Finnish artist.
