Chris Cargo – Mirage (The Remixes) [If You Wait]

The latest release from If You Wait finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Chris Cargo’s ‘Mirage’. Originally released in December of last year it found the Irish artist crafting one of his trademark dark, progressive chuggers. A significant piece in the resurgence of this progressive house veteran it now gets reworked for 2018 by Weird Sounding Dude and Francesco Pico.

India’s Abhijith Hegde aka Weird Sound Dude has had a hand in some of this years more memorable progressive house releases. Beginning with his five track artist showcase on Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music in April to his most recent effort, a two track EP for Canada’s Strange Town Recordings. Now putting his remixer cap on Abhijith delivers a stunning interpretation of ‘Mirage’. The vibe of the original is well maintained but presented in more of an atmospheric context. It’s hazy backdrop is quite intoxicating, pulling you into the hypnotic rhythms and cross cultural motifs, the latter of which dominate a memorable break before shifting energy back to a pulsating third act finale.

The release concludes with Francesco Pico making his label debut. The Dutch artist and Magnitude label boss is certainly in the running for comeback of the year after being silent for quite some time. Francesco’s productions always bring a unique, creative perspective and his ‘Mirage’ interpretation is no different. Operating as more of a dub, the mix excels with groovy acid lines and layers of finely tuned percussion. Phasing noise does wonders to build tension throughout and also provides a smooth rush into a pumping finale. Top notch work from Francesco which caps off a great remix edition for Chris Carge’s ‘Mirage’. Don’t miss it.
