Chambord, Jo.Ke – Quiet Times [Sol Selectas]

Sol Selectas is a record label that has been behind many an organic house anthem, and this release could be their latest dance floor hit. It features the original track “Quiet Times” which has been made by vocalist Jo.Ke and French duo Chambord.

The track is a heady mix of mystifying vocals and poignant melodies that when layered with a deep bassline and flowing percussion rhythms, has all the ingredients for success. It’s memorable, functional and heartfelt, which has so often proven to be a winning combination.

Chambord have worked with Sol Selectas in the past but this is head-and-shoulders their strongest track on the label to date, and Jo.Ke’s voice is recognisable to many after he sung on NU’s track “Who Loves The Sun” that has racked up over 45 million plays on Spotify and 120 Million views on YouTube.

Also on the release are remixes by El Mundo, Landikhan and Chukku that each put a different spin on the original. Chukku’s version is a collaboration with Jo.Ke, and it puts an Afro house spin on the original. El Mundo and Landikhan provide solo reworks in the style they have respectively released on labels such as Crosstown Rebels and Stil Vor Talent.

First up is the original mix of “Quiet Times” which is a magical piece of music that fuses emotive vocals with delicate melodies and a bassline that radiates heat throughout the track. Chukku and Jo.Ke work in some Afro influenced percussion and switches out the bassline. El Mundo’s remix of Quiet Times orientates around the addition of a new piano part to create an uplifting version with a melodic flow. Landikhan boxes off the release with a stripped back version that works in strings and glockenspiel to create eerie tension that contrasts nicely with the ghostly vocals.
