Roku opens the spring season by welcoming Cendryma to the label for his debut EP. American producer Daniel Sampson aka Cendryma has carved out a less than conventional path on this way to being one of his country’s rising talents. From his early beginnings as trance producer under the Tecnosine and Sam Cydan monikers, the Oregon resident eventually grew tired of the genre’s constraints. Some downtime during the global pandemic gave Daniel time to pursue other creative avenues, eventually landing on progressive house and his current alias Cendryma, a project which he states ‘truly embodies my evolving sound and creative vision.’ Now, just over a year into his journey as Cendryma, Daniel has made measurable strides, compiling well-received projects for Deep Down Music, Pattern, PURRFECTION, UV and his own Cydana Sounds imprint. With 2025 already yielding an emotive take on ‘A Galaxy Above’ by Chris Sterio and Stan Seba, Cendryma continues on his explorative path, making his roku debut with ‘Fusion’, alongside remixes from Yonsh and Chriss V & Olart.
The driving progressive vibes of 'Fusion' sets the pace for Cendryma's sprawling roku debut. Warm kick drums, rolling basslines and precise percussive arrangements lay the foundation for delicate melodic fragments and gloriously textured effects to paint a bucolic storyboard, while a break of trance-inducing melodies and blurred reverberations deliver a colourful soundscape to spearhead a thunderous finale. The companion piece 'Asset Control' lands with equal dancefloor vigor, as Cendryma flexes his melody crafting prowess across the seven minute piece. Key changing basslines provide the anchor for glowing pads and heartfelt sonics to highlight a misty top line, continually evolving as reprocessed effects and spirited percussion create a club energy that is both stirring and confident.
The lone interpretation of ‘Fusion’ is provided by Yonsh who makes his label debut. Hailing from Russia, Vladimir Demchenko aka Yonsh has been a fixture of the progressive house community for the better part of four years. On the strength of early tracks such as 'Arrange' and 'Sheld', Yonsh was tipped as a newcomer to watch. Fast forward three creative and prolific years, and the Moscow resident now lays claim to an impressive resume with releases via Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, PURRFECTION, RKP, Sound Avenue and The Soundgarden, while genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Emi Galvan, Ruben Karapetyan, Nicolas Rada and Nick Warren have chimed in with support along the way. With 2025 entering its second quarter, Yonsh continues on an upwards trajectory, making his roku debut with a powerful rendition of ‘Fusion’. The Russian artist re-imagines the track with a deep underbelly of chunky basslines and rebounding rhythms, while the main break reveals a canopy of grandiose melodies and key changing bass swells, to balance out what is a perfect loud/soft production dynamic.
The release concludes with Chriss V & Olart returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Asset Control’. Hailing from Albania, Chriss V has been a fixture of the electronic underground for the better part of two decades. Highly regarded as a DJ, Chriss has shared the stage with a variety of top international talents, with Solomun, Eric Prydz, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Henry Saiz, Roy Rosenfeld, Sebastien Leger, Khen, Eli Nissan and Armen Miran being the most notable. As a producer, Chriss has been selective with his projects over the last decade, with Dbeatzion Records, Elliptical Sun Recordings and Inception being the primary landing spots for his progressive sound. Having forged a partnership with newcomer and fellow countryman Olart last year, the duo released their first ever artist EP ‘Distance Echoes’ via roku, a release which spawned subsequent projects via One Of A Kind and The Purr. Now, continuing to build on their creative partnership, Chriss V & Olart return to roku for their first remix, putting their own unique twist on ‘Asset Control’. Taking a more nostalgic approach, the duo lightens the framework with plush kick drums, warm rhythmic pulses and woody percussion. Hypnotic and soothing in equal measure, it's an evolving melodic narrative which delights across the break, tastefully creating a wall of retro-radiance, before melting down into a heavenly finale to round out the release on a feel good note.
