Feature: Johannes Brecht [Interview] Hey Johannes, great to chat! Autumn is here - are you someone who likes this season? Does it affect the music you make? Actually I’m not a big fan of rain ;) Here in Germany it's often rainy in autumn, but I do love to be in the studio while it's raining outside. Winter and Autumn are my favourite times for studio work, and of course it's a completely different mood, which I really love. How often do you draw on your formal classical training? Is it useful? Yes it's super useful! The way I do music is a very traditional approach, like with real instruments and real performances. I don’t use loops or something like that. I try to really play and record everything, that’s how it gets artistic, in my opinion. What gear do you use now, software or real instruments or? My studio setup is changing all the time. Especially of course the electronic or digital instruments. For me it's about finding special or unusual combinations. Special microphones, traditional ethnic i Read More

Feature: Joris Delacroix [Interview] Hello Joris, I hope you’re having a good day and thanks for joining us. Tell us about growing up in France, how did you find your way into the world of electronic music? The Internet played the biggest part in learning how to make music. It was very useful to me for first learning how to produce, meeting other producers and finally getting my music heard and raising my artistic profile. As a DJ my first experiences came from mixing sessions with some friends. Then I quickly had the chance to get a residency in the summer of 2011, it was very instructive to me because at this time I had the technical skills to play out but I didn’t really know how to communicate with the crowd. It allowed me to play better sets on my first gigs as a guest DJ, and I think that’s how I’ve been able to raise my reputation as a DJ and make it my full time job. There has always been amazing music coming out of France. How has living there affected the music you make? I think the main fo Read More

Feature: JP Lantieri [Zodiac Overview] Five years in the making, JP Lantieri's concept album 'Zodiac' was recently released to much acclaim. Available on CD and digitally, it's a compelling journey into smooth rhythmic concepts and transcendent melodies. Borderless in appeal, the LP effortlessly melds progressive house, techno, house, melodic house and deep house across twelve uniquely crafted cuts. We had a chance to chat with JP about the album and he gives us a track by track breakdown into the making of the project. Enjoy! Aries As Aries is the first track to open this Zodiac album, I wanted it to be energetic and solid, like the ram it represents, and fresh like the spring, as this sign follows the Spring Equinox. It conveys a naivety that can be found in many charming Arians. The flowers blossom, and each chord of the short repetitive synth bells is a new flower which opens up under the warming Sun. This track’s positive energy sets the tone of the album, a celebration of twelve facets of life. Taurus Read More
