Formel – Cafayate [Replug]

By Release Promo

Cid Inc’s Replug Records ushers in the new year by welcoming Formel to the label. Hailing from the Netherlands, Bas van der Laken and Tom Noah began the Formel project in 2010. Coming from backgrounds of progressive house and techno respectively, the duos unique fusion of styles eventually led to releases on Einmusika and Sincopat, while an outing on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth capped off 2017 perfectly. Now as the new year begins Formel makes their much anticipated debut on Replug with the ‘Cafayate’ EP. Spread across three compositions the EP begins with its poignant title piece. A warm, rolling groove sets a fluid vibe as neatly tailored percussion and strong rhythmic hooks latch on to the framework. With an anthemic sense building the piece strips down into expansive break, revealing a stronger emotion, as indistinct vocals carry an air of mystery before bright synths and melodic bass swells converge for the ultimate dance floor moment. The narrative shifts into de

andhim – Huso (Armonica Remix) [Superfriends Records]

Having rounded out our first year with 'Amene' being selected by Pete Tong as one of his Tracks of the Year, Superfriends look to kickstart 2018 with a fresh remixed version of andhim's 'Huso EP'. Friends and favourites have been chosen by the label bosses to lend their touch to the original tracks, each turning out fresh and exciting new versions of Huso and Amene. First up and reworking the synth-laden eastern vibes of the title track are Italian duo Armonica and exciting Berlin based collective Bakery. Both deliver contrasting yet equally emotive offerings. Staying true to the percussive flavour of the original, Sum Over Histories bosses Frankey & Sandrino gently guide Amene on a elegantly deeper path, while Tel Aviv's Autarkic maintains his stellar run of future-facing productions by turning the track on its head via some stirring dancefloor surgery. ► YouTube: bit.ly/ProgressiveAstronautSubscribe ► Soundcloud: bit.ly/ProgressiveAstronautSC ► Website: bi

Space Motion – Tribe [MNL]

Space Motion was responsible for the most popular release on MNL in 2017 with 'Green Waves' and now he's back with the long awaited follow up; 'Tribe EP'. This new three tracker is destined to be at least as big as it's predecessor and showcases the versatility of the Novi Sad (Serbia) based producer. Starting out with the crossover afro house influenced title track 'Tribe' Space Motion immediately sets the tone for what's to come. You thought 'Green Waves' was good? This is next level! The second track 'Stress' is one in his trademark sound; uplifting, driving, proggy and with clear ethnic influences. If you liked his previous releases you won't be disappointed here. The EP ends with 'New Mountains Calling' which finds the middle between the first two songs. It has that ethnic Space Motion vibe but with the tribalistic rhythms you already heard on 'Tribe'. 2018 is looking to be a big year for Space Motion, and with 'Tribe EP' he's already off to an amazing start! ► Y

Moonwalk – Fatima [Stil Vor Talent]

Moonwalk put the spotlight on exotic soundscapes in Fatima, a cinematic release with three original pieces, blending their usual lively electronic explorations with an oriental flair. The title track commences with subtly rousing drums, gradually building up a melancholic groove, perched on a backdrop of warm pads and spiralling synths. Another set of oriental-inspired percussion comes to life in Zed, a lengthy journey of winding pads and shimmery riffs. The wailing vocal makes for a distinctive sound bite, while blending in deftly with the aid of a dramatic lead merged in ethereal throbs. Mosaic brings forth another apt fusion of electronic and otherworldly elements. The symbiosis between the two remains linear, with incidental swings to each side of the realm, proving the artists’ ability to steer through divergent moods and combine them into a unitary, curious composition. ► YouTube: bit.ly/ProgressiveAstronautSubscribe ► Soundcloud: bit.ly/ProgressiveAstronaut

BOHO & Maksim Dark – Octopussy [Jannowitz]

2017 was quite the year for Jannowitz Records. Alex Stein, Andre Gazolla, Diatonik, Eudi, Flow & Zeo, FractaLL & Rocksted, Kaiser Souzai, Khainz, SUDO, Touchtalk - just to name a few of all the international leading artists that released music on the Cologne based imprint during the last year. And right next to those big names BOHO, the DJ duo founded by JAW label bosses Lars Kohl and Matthias Seibert, arose. In 2017 their journey started. They released their first EP, remixed various tracks and played in their hometown as well as on Ibiza and in India. And while BOHO's journey has just begun, another artist had his first career peak last year. Maksim Dark produced a whole lot of tracks. Among them are remixes for techno legends like Dubfire (published on SCI-TEC) and Oliver Huntemann (Senso). But Maksim Dark still took the time to collaborate with BOHO for their second and darkest EP, yet. "Octopussy“ combines BOHO's and Maksim's ways of producing throbbing, driving tech

Hello Guy, thanks for joining us today, you are just back from stops in Toronto and Montreal, an eight hour set at Coda and a mammoth 20 hour back to back set with Hernan Cattaneo at Stereo. Tell us about those, how were they and how do you prepare for a 20 hour set? physically, mentally and musically? For me the preparation for that weekend was producing music that I can play at different point of the set and just digging for good music! Both gigs were amazing thnx to the great crowd of Canada, Playing with Hernan is always fun, he is a master of a dj and a good friend so it goes very smooth. For the 20 hours set we had the best sound system for it which is in Stereo, you just want to keep playing there, its unreal how good it is. The club was always busy and the people gives you the energy to keep on playing, we both absolutely loved it. Although you're primarily thought of as a progressive house artist, your music sits in a space that transcends the genre. A wide assortment

Hi Nela, thanks for joining us today, tell us a bit about yourself, where are you living and how long have you been producing music and DJing? How did you discover electronic music and what led you down the path of wanting to be a DJ and producer? Where do your early influences lie? My first experience of DJ’s and the art of DJ’ing was a rather uncomfortable moment due to another DJ with prehistoric, chauvinistic views. However I was fascinated by the whole process and skill of mixing and, putting that moment to back of my mind, I set out to dedicate my time to learning and crafting my own skills behind the decks. I began playing out and after a while the ‘word’ spread quickly and in the last two years I’ve now played every major venue in my home city of Tel Aviv. The production chapter is a more recent and, I would say, natural development. Sometimes I enjoy it more than DJing. Its really mind blowing what you can do in the studio, the infinite options of sound. You c
