María – Take Me Home [Xtao Xounds] By Release Promo Posted on 22 hours ago 7 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Caballero’s Xtao Xounds imprint arrives in exciting fashion with a much anticipated single from the label boss himself. Hailing from Mexico, Hugo Caballero, aka DJ Gandulk and Caballero has been a fixture of his country's electronic music culture for the better part of two decades. With a history rich in music, Caballero began his journey playing guitar and performing in rock and alternative bands, before eventually discovering a new passion in electronic music. First emerging in 2009 with ‘Swing’, a two-track showcase recorded alongside frequent collaborator 2up, and released via Iboga Mexico, Caballero became a rising artist to watch. Subsequent projects via Digital Structures, Sounds of Earth, Steyoyoke and Undergroove Music, amongst others, were received with praise from the underground’s premiere tastemakers. Also an accomplished DJ, Caballero has been a primary figure within Mexico’s burgeoning nightlife. With a unique and cohesive blend of styles, the Mexico City resident can often be found blurring the lines between progressive and melodic house, while showcasing his impeccable programming skills at some of the country’s trendiest venues. Now, sitting firmly as one of Mexico’s most recognized electronic music talents, Caballero launches his Xtao Xounds imprint with ‘Take Me Home’, alongside a remix from Juan Pablo Torrez. Utilizing the vocal talents of Maria, Caballero crafts a club-effective journey that should leave long-lasting memories both on and off the dancefloor. Arriving in good time for the winter season, the Mexican’s shapely grooves and timeless tonal themes set a free flowing foundation for Maria’s soulful vocal phrasing to add another dimension to the piece. Expertly reprocessed, the vocal narrative sets the stage for a prophetic lead theme, one complete with darker monochromes and rich character, tailored perfectly to carry the proceedings onwards through a tension filled break and synth driven drop which is equal parts groovy and emotional. And for the less vocally inclined DJ or listener, there is also a dub version included. The release concludes with Juan Pablo Torrez making his label debut with the lone interpretation of ‘Take Me Home’. Colombian artist and Clubsonica label boss Juan Pablo Torrez has compiled an impressive resume since first emerging in 2007. Mango Alley, Plattenbank, The Soundgarden, UV and more have served as landing spots for his progressive creations, while world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have been steadfast supporters along the way. Also highly regarded as a DJ, Juan remains one of Colombia's premiere talents, sharing the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sasha, Tim Green, D-Nox and more. With 2024 being highlighted by ‘Lost in Love’, a Clubsonica vehicle recorded alongside Jossem and Velveta, Juan now rounds out the year with a stunning interpretation of ‘Take Me Home’. Adding further depth to the release, Juan opts for a peak time club effective approach, focusing on a dynamic blend of warm grooves, devilish chord stabs, fragmented vocals and panoramic arps, while tastefully incorporating the original's distinctive sonic traits, sealing what is a dramatic journey to round out the release in style.
