Blank Boris – Soul Vibes [Soundteller Records]

Presenting their last release of 2022, Deersky's Soundteller Records welcomes Blank Boris to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Blank Boris is at the beginning of his production journey with under ten discography credits all landing since April of this year, with Madloch's Future Avenue and Omne One being primary vehicles for Blank's progressive sound. Now debuting on Soundteller, the Rostov-on-Don resident presents a three track showcase entitled 'Soul Vibes'.

The aptly titled 'Soul Vibes' leads the release off with nostalgic progressive vibes. Warm grooves, smooth rhythms and clattering percussion provide the backbone for arpeggiated fragments and balmy atmospheres to provide a path into the main break. Acting as a calming part of the narrative, the break is brief and atmospheric, nicely building anticipation towards a colourfully emotive finale.

Meanwhile, the second selection 'Moving On' exudes more of a dance floor vibe as tempo rises and energy increases. The emotive qualities of the previous selection carry nicely here, with effervescent arps and playful chord stabs perfectly setting up an exhilarating final movement.

The release concludes with 'Finishing the Past' which once again comes with similar emotive qualities as the previous selections. The primary difference is a female vocal element which carries the narrative for portions of the track. Youthful and spirited, its elusive quality stands out on the EP and rounds it out on a strong note. Highly recommended.
