Biotech Patagonia – Natura (UNER & Viviana Toscanini Remix) [Dilek]

Swiss label Dilek drops a new EP from Argentinian duo Biotech Patagonia also including a remix by UNER who is an artist who has featured on labels ranging from Bedrock and Diynamic to Sol Selectas.

Biotech Patagonia have a melodic style and a unique take on electronic music that when DJ’ing, also incorporates live vocals expertly sung by Violeta Reynal who makes up one half of the boyfriend and girlfriend duo. Constantino Vela is the other half and it’s his DJ skills which prove the backing track for the vocals.

In the studio Violeta Reynal is also a skilled pianist who brings charismatic melody to their music, whilst Constantino Vela builds the bulk of the track using analogue drum machines and synthesisers.

Creative equals, the members of Biotech Patagonia have complimenting skills, and this is the duo's debut release of original material.

For his remix, UNER has teamed up with his girlfriend Viviana Toscanini who is a South American native with musical roots that run deep in her family tree, and she has released on labels such as CibiCaldi Records. UNER to fans of the melodic genre needs little introduction, as he regularly DJ’s all over the globe, and has releases on many of the world’s best known labels.

The original mix of “Natura” opens the EP with a slow building structure full of analogue warmth. Its stripped back sound with synth parts washed in delay gives the track a cosmic feel perfect for the dance floor.

For the second track UNER and Viviana Toscanini remix “Natura” and start by adding an exquisite piano that’s brings a poignant mood to the original's stellar design. Beautiful and ambient but without forgetting about the dance floor, this intricate rework is simply stunning.

Third is “Shadows” which appropriately titled, had a dark and brooding undertone with glistening synths that skim across its surface, but it’s the introverted vocal which really adds the personality to this haunting cut.

“Genesis” is fourth on the release and with pulsating bass tones the track brings focus to the lead vocal, which compliments the mood of the dramatic melody synths. Highly conceptual and a full embodiment of the term epic, this mammoth track is a real attention grabber.

Finishing things is “Whispers” which is an intricate call and response between the bass and melody. Minimal in many senses, but still falling under the header of melodic techno, this track could for many be one of the highlights on the EP.
