Alejo Gonzalez & Max Blade – Secret Room [Balkan Connection]

Balkan Connection’s latest finds Alejo Gonzalez & Max Blade collaborating on a brand new single. The Argentinean duo have an impressive discography having recently released a single on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and also remixing Nick and Guy Mantzur’s progressive house classic ‘Sad Robot’ for Bedrock Records. Now making their debut on Balkan Connection the duo presents their new single ‘Secret Room’ alongside remixes from Matias Chilano and Lucas Rossi.

Although collaborations from Alejo and Max have been relatively scarce, when the duo does get together the end result is always something special. Such is true of their latest ‘Secret Room’ which delights on many levels. In addition to its traditional and oh so effective proggy groove it’s melodic storyboard is incredibly compelling. Evidenced particularly in the main break, the duo crafts a wistful, cinematic and delicately poignant two minute soundscape which not only reaches great emotional depth but sets up and the enthralling finale perfectly.

First up on the remixes is Matias Chilano who in addition to having a stellar four track EP for Movement Recordings in the pipeline is fresh off remixes for Juicebox Music and SoulArt Recordings. Now considered a veteran of the Argentinean scene Matias puts a deeper, groovier spin on ‘Secret Room’. It’s warm, chunky foundation is ultra smooth and the melodic motifs which adorn the framework are not only astral in design but positively glowing.

Closing the release out is Lucas Rossi who is no stranger to Balkan Connection as he makes his third appearance here. Completing this all Argentina release Lucas brings a fluid, driving approach to the track. with an emphasis on it’s atmospheric storyboard. It sits as a perfect complement to the previous two versions and it’s buzzing build out of the break will certainly bring a huge rush to your dance floor. A massive release for Balkan Connection which at years end may sit as one of the labels best. Highly Recommended.
