A SKITZO – Doppler [Mirabilis Records]

The latest from Mirabilis Records welcomes A SKITZO to the label for his debut EP. The Bosnian artist owns an impressive discography with releases on ICONYC and Submarine Vibes. Now following a contribution to the 90watts ‘90 Days of Summer’ collection, A SKITZO makes his much anticipated debut on Mirabilis with ‘Doppler’.

The title selection leads the release off and it’s esoteric qualities are immediately evident. Quirky vocal elements carry the first act along with a variety of strong rhythmic motifs but it’s the main break where the narrative shifts into more emotive territory. Cascading themes, rough stabs and subtle but oh so effective chord changes make for a euphoric finale act. A very unique creation from A SKITZO.

The release concludes with ‘Dune’ which is a collaboration with Farrel. Once again the vocal elements come across very unique and quirky but this is a much deeper and more introspective creation with spooky arps and haunting electronics. Undeniably techno inspired it sits as a very cool, cross pollinated sound and one that more adventurous DJs could really make great use of. Two stellar tracks from an artist who no doubt has a very bright future. Highly Recommended.
