Releases Li-Polymer – Pterodroma [Balkan Connection] By Release Promo Posted on 5th January 2019 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Balkan Connection begins the new year in fine fashion with a new single from Li-Polymer. The Portuguese artist last appeared on the Serbian imprint in August of 2017 with a remix of ‘Storm’ by Analog Jungs. Now following a year highlighted by releases on Beat Boutique, ICONYC and One Of A Kind, Li-Polymer lands back on Balkan Connection with ‘Pterodroma’ alongside remixes from Nicolas Rada and Matias Chilano. Li-Polymer seems to be an artist under constant evolution. No two productions mirror one another and while the basis of his style remains organic and groovy there are genuine shifts or growth in creativity as time moves forward. ‘Pterodroma’ proves to be one of his most compelling pieces to date. The warmth and momentum of the low end is quite spectacular, perfectly contoured and full of great character, it anchors what is a pulsating, percussive, yet highly introspective slice of deep house. As with most Li-Polymer productions the drums really stand out; dynamic, vibrant and with a unique sonic blueprint they drive the piece forward to a centrepiece of spiritual enlightenment. Gentle decay and a hazy tension prelude a soul infused vocal motif which sets the course for a gorgeous finale. The remixer cast is a progressive music fan’s dream with two of the scene’s most hyped talents in Nicolas Rada and Matias Chilano delivering two stunning interpretations. First up is Nicolas Rada who is fresh off his best year to date. The Argentinean artist become a frequent studio partner to legendary DJ Nick Warren. Together the duo delivered some of 2018’s most beloved tracks. Everything from their ‘Land Of Dreams’ three piece showcase to remixes for Days Like Nights and Manjumasi have been exceptional. Speaking about Nicolas’ solo efforts is much same with the creative artist giving us one of the years best bootleg remixes with his take on Bjork’s ‘Mutual Core’ along with releases on Asymmetric Recordings, MNL, Proton’s Particles and Reworck. Now presenting his first production of 2019 Nicolas brings ‘Pterodroma’ closer to the dance floor with a fuller more robust low end and amazing rhythmic qualities. Also a drum savant, the space and energy in which the percussion operates is simply amazing. Fluid, detailed and with momentous bounce, it sits at the core of what is a deep, emotive and perfectly crafted piece of progressive house. No doubt headed for the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren it most certainly belongs in your collection as well. The release concludes with Matias Chilano returning to the label following an amazing 2018. Highlighted by a release on Cid Inc's Replug Records, the Argentinean artist also had two of his productions licensed to Patrice Baumel's upcoming GU Berlin mix compilation. No doubt set for even bigger things in 2019 Matias provides a stunning rendition of ‘Pterodroma’ to get the year underway. Smooth, rolling and full of great rhythmic hooks it’s got a superb dance floor sensibility from the outset. The ghostly themes which drift over the framework push it into brilliant territory though. Coming to full fruition during the main break as swirling atmospheres and clustered melodies fade away into the mountainous groove for a massive finale. A stunning remix from Matias which rounds out one of Balkan Connection's best ever releases. What a way to get the year underway. Highly recommended.
