Matteo Monero – Anunnaki [Balkan Connection]

Balkan Connection’s latest welcomes Matteo Monero back to the label for a brand new single. The Italian artist last appeared on the Serbian imprint in April of 2017 with a remix of ‘Awakening’ by Leo Delgado. Now following a remix for Majestic Family to begin the year Matteo returns to Balkan Connection with a brand new single entitled ‘Anunnaki’ alongside remixes from Anton MAKe and Hot Tuneik Remixes.

Matteo has been in the progressive underground for quite some time, almost eleven years to be exact, so he’s had his finger on the pulse of the genre for over a decade. It's something which resonates in his productions and ‘Anunnaki’ might be one of his best. Smooth and emotive yet groovy enough to rock a dance floor and with a wide array of spacey effects definitely something which stimulates the mind as well.

Both remixes more than do the original justice with Anton Make being first up. The Russian artist lowers the tempo for a deeper and highly detailed rendition. Feathered percussion and a stripped back groove lay down a solid foundation while plonky melodies lead perfectly into an expansive break. Clocking in at over two minutes, it’s both cinematic and emotive, culminating with a feverous build and classy drop.

The release concludes with Hot TuneiK returning to the label for his sixth appearance. The Mexican artist and Hookah Records label boss is much loved for his deep, spacious sound. Once again he brings his magic to ‘Anunnaki’ rounding out the release on a strong note. Perhaps more in the pure progressive vein than we’re used to as this one goes pretty big with warm stabs and anthemic pads. Stellar remix from Hot TuneiK and another perfect progressive house release from Balkan Connection.
