Amir Telem – My Shadows [Inspired By Trees]

Amir Telem continues to have one of his most prolific years to date, this week returning to Inspired By Trees with a new single 'My Shadows'. Famed for releases via Kindisch, Movement Recordings, UV Noir and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Israeli artist Amir Telem has continued to delight fans with his unique take on electronic music. Equally adept at creating organic, melodic or progressive house, Amir's productions are often borderless, appealing to a broad range of DJs and in turn finding a place on the world's largest dance floors. With 2023 yielding key releases for  EIN2, Joof Aura, Mango Alley, Manual Music, Rebirth and more, 2024 has proven to be equally impressive, adding Dreaming Awake, Earthly Delights, Echoes of Time, Siona and Where The Heart Is to his resume. With the success of Amir's Inspired By Trees debut 'Embrace The Pain' also highlighting 2023, a return to the label seemed inevitable and now comes in the form of 'My Shadows', alongside remixes from Jelly For The Babies and Planet Caravan.

'My Shadows' finds Amir showcasing a deeper side of his repertoire, one where he works mysterious atmospheres, dubbed out tones and frayed synth mutations over a foundation of meditative beats. Nicely suited to the early hours or a backroom environment, its slow burning vibe and careful use of drama and anticipation make it the ultimate set building tool, one which brings just enough tension across the final act to push forward into levels.

Returning to the label for the first interpretation of 'My Shadows' is Jelly For The Babies. Hailing from Serbia, Marijan Raskovic aka Jelly For The Babies has a diverse style which has seen him land releases via inU, Mango Alley and Sound Avenue, while making him a favourite amongst a broad range of top tier tastemakers including Hernan Cattaneo, Mark Knight and Eelke Kleijn. Inspired By Trees has also been a landing spot for Jelly For The Babies, with three appearances since making his label debut in 2019 with 'Faded Memories'. When not producing some of the smoothest deep and progressive house around, Marijan also runs One Of A Kind, RYNTH and The Purr. Now, fresh off a remix for Meeting Molly and Mango Alley, Jelly For The Babies returns to Inspired By Trees with a sizable take on 'My Shadows'. You don't often hear Jelly push tension and energy to the degree he has here and it works remarkably well. In what is a complete departure from the vibe of the Original, the Serbian maestro brings a dark and prophetic mood early through muscular kick drums, beefy percussive arrangements and dramatic chord stabs. Not content to carry this mood forward, a soulful vocal drops in and the track opens up for what results in a main room bomb.

Rounding out the release with the second and final remix of 'My Shadows' is Planet Caravan who makes his label debut here. Beloved for his trippy amalgamation of Downtempo, Electronica, and Slow House, Swiss artist Planet Caravan first emerged in 2021 with a remix for Daniel Hokum and Underyourskin, a project which would set the course for subsequent releases via down., Easy Tiger, KataHaifisch and trndmsk across the next three years. Also a renowned DJ, the Zurich resident is a festival and club favourite with memorable preferences at Berggeflüster and Karrusel Festival Grandstand across this year's summer season. Always choosy in his production projects, Planet Caravan now adds Inspired By Trees to his resume with a trippy rendition of 'My Shadows'. Aptly coined 'Snailspace' Mix, Planet Caravan shows the tempo down to around 110 for a slow-building tripped out excursion of the highest order. Depth and character of sound are at a premium here and the dubby vibe of the original translates amazingly well. Its mesmerizing swing might be its strongest suit however,  effortlessly flowing with a strong head bobbing vibe that's sure to make a strong presence on the dancefloor or during a late night headphone listening session. Highly recommended.
