Released last month amidst much praise, 'Transcend' found Phenomena label boss Elias Erium collaborating with fellow Canadian and Steyoyoke artist Monarke. The Montreal based duo combined their extensive forces for an astral excursion of the highest order and in turn earning support from Adriatique, Nick Warren and Nicole Moudaber. Now, reverting to his solo ways, Elias returns to Phenomena with a two-track showcase entitled 'Fragmented'. The title selection 'Fragmented' sets the tone with deep pulsating grooves and a stunning array of otherworldly effects. Stripped and tense in equal measure, Elias builds drama and emotion across the first act, through percolating arps, percussive splashes and poignant bass swells, the latter of which drives energy into the main break. Looking to bring even greater emotional depth, the interlude takes shape with dystopian soundscapes eventually giving way to warm wavy arps and glowing pads, as the groove drops and meditative structures take you through a spellbinding finale. The second and final selection 'Connected' sits as a perfect complement with its swing heavy cadence and dynamic dance floor appeal. Chugging beats and charged grooves set the foundation for fuzzed out stabs, arpeggiated fragments and clusters of claps to work their magic leading into the break. Opening up further across an expansive interlude, percolating sonics and phasing effects unite for a slow dramatic build, eventually culminating in a nostalgic crescendo and a retro-radiant finale. It rounds out a welcome return to Phenomena for label boss Elias Erium, an artist who furthers his place amongst the world's rising melodic house and techno producers with 'Fragmented'.
