Antrim – Hoffnung [Clubsonica Records]

Clubsonica Records begins 2021 by welcoming Antrim back to the label for a new single. The Cordoba resident and Or Two Strangers boss continues to be a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while laying claim to releases on Sudbeat Music and Hope Recordings. A prolific 2020 saw Antrim collaborate with fellow progressive music stars Interaxxis and Alex O'Rion, for releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records and Roger Martinez's Higher States, along with a solo outing for Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records and his chart topping Or Two Strangers vehicle 'Black Night'. Now starting the new year in style, Antrim returns to Clubsonica with 'Hoffnung', alongside remixes from Shai T and Rauschhaus.

Although best known for his progressive minded productions, Antrim often finds himself in the creative space between organic and progressive house. Such is the case with 'Hoffnung' which plays out over seven enchanting minutes. A narrative of warm swells and choir-like pads layer voluptuous bass lines and organic drums. Acting as a thematic core, the centrepiece showcases fluttery synth concepts; charming in design while moving fluidly across a radiant underbelly, as wispy effects and a rush of drums smoothly segues into a heavenly finale.

The first interpretation of 'Hoffnung' is provided by Shai T who makes his label debut. The Israeli artist has been riding a wave of success through the landscape of organic house. From his Tel Aviv studio, Shai's exquisite musical creations have found a home on the genre's most esteemed imprints, such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Lost Miracle and TRYBESof. Now as a regular in the Organic House Beatport Top 10, Shai makes his much anticipated Clubsonica debut with a gorgeous take on 'Hoffnung'. Always a creative remixer, the Israeli artist expands on the emotive qualities of the original with a truly breathtaking production. Full, warm and undeniably organic; its buoyant low end, airy vocal phrasing and exotic percussion work in perfect sonic unison. An expansive centrepiece is highlighted by aquatic cascades and soaring strings, tastefully elevating mood with their elegant musicality, as the groove drops for a blissful final movement.

The second and final interpretation of 'Hoffnung is provided by Rauschhaus who makes his label debut. The German producer has been a highly regarded figure of the melodic house underground for the last two years, having showcased his music on Beatfreak Recordings, Eleatics Records, Einmusika, Timeless Moment and Stil Vor Talent. Now making a welcome debut on Clubsonica, Rauschhaus rounds out the release with a powerful rendition of 'Hoffnung'. The groove gets reworked into something a bit chunkier while a complement of tranquil arps, misty atmospheres and detailed percussion fill in the framework. Musically less pronounced, the German artist opts for a sleeker yet equally powerful approach, building tension subtly across the final break though luminous sonics and timely modulation, before smoothly segueing into an uplifting finale. Groovy and emotive in equal measure it not only makes for an auspicious label debut for Rauschhaus, but caps off a stunning first release of the year for Clubsonica.
