Releases Lemon8 – A Better Place [Soundteller Records] By Release Promo Posted on 24th November 2019 8 min read 1 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Deersky's Soundteller Records notches another milestone release by welcoming Lemon8 to the label for a new single. The Dutch artist was at the forefront of progressive music's golden era with timeless classic's such as 'New York, New York' c/o John Digweed's Bedrock Records in 2002. Releases from the Rotterdam resident have been scattered in recent years and have primarily come in the form of remixes. Now as 2019 winds to a close Soundteller presents a new single from the legendary producer alongside an excellent set of remixes from Andrea Cassino and D-Nox & Zac. Beginning with the Original Mix, the Dutch artist sounds as on form as ever. Anchored by thunderous kicks and a full, rugged groove the energy comes up quickly. Like many of Lemon8's best productions this is one based on rhythm and groove. Void of any primary theme it's layers of finely tuned percussion, a fiery cadence and stellar effects that ultimately make this such a hi-octane bomb. An intriguing vocal narrative highlights a short and timely break, before quickly getting washed away in a wave of astral effects as the pulsating groove drops for a powerful finale. Harry has also included one of his 'Inner Sanctuary' mixes which keeps the same fiery tempo but with a greater hypnotic sensibility than it's predecessor. The first interpretation sees Soundteller label artist Andrea Cassino returning for his ninth appearance. Much loved for his smooth, hypnotic style, the Italian born, Buenos Aries based artist slows the tempo and re-imagines the track in a more muted, tranquil context. Radiant atmospheres and meditative qualities play heavily across it's nine minute running time, with subtle shifts in drive and cadence perfectly setting up a timeless break. Poignant and glowing, it's a centrepiece which captures your imagination, subtly building an emotional response, before effortlessly seguing into a smooth final act. The release concludes with D-Nox & Zac making their label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of a 'A Better Place'. Having recently delivered their first collaborative remix for Proton Music, D-Nox & Zac now build on that creative synergy with a superb take on 'A Better Place'. Fresh and groovy, it’s a sensory delight full of powerful dance floor dynamics. A perfectly sculpted low end provides wonderful drive and swing while the vocal narrative plays a bigger role here, trailing across the first act, wonderfully intertwined with lovely chord stabs and classy effects. A more distinct lead theme soon fades to prominence, initializing the main break and with it bringing waves of emotion. Timeless in execution and poignant in delivery, it sits against a wispy backdrop as the vocal once again delivers it's message before a timely drop ushers in a groovy finale. An amazing remix from D-Nox & Zac who make their Soundteller debut in fine style. Could this be the beginning of a Lemon8 resurgence? Only time will tell but progressive music would be a better place with him back in the spotlight. Highly recommended.
