Having made his production debut in July of last year with the '70/50 Chance' single, the Swiss artist got 2019 off to a great start with a well received remix of 'Faded Memories' by Jelly For The Babies. Also coming courtesy of Inspired By Trees, it found the Baden resident crafting an atmospheric rendition that sat in the creative space between progressive house and techno. Now returning to his comfortable home of Inspired By Trees, Paege presents his latest single 'Diversity', alongside remixes from Dole & KOM, Freya and Dirty Sandwich. Paege's uncanny knack for cross pollinating genres has never been more evident than on 'Diversity'. Effortlessly melding elements of techno, deep and progressive house it makes for an intriguing eight minute journey. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, it's punchy beats, dubby tones and redolent rhythms unite for a smooth, hip swinging beginning. Exotic percussion and atmospheric swells create a compelling canopy of sound, before a spoken word storyboard and pulsating motifs add further intrigue and fuel to the rhythmic fire. The first interpretation of 'Diversity' is provided by Dole & KOM who make their label debut. The German duo have enjoyed a 26 year partnership since meeting in 1993 while working at Berlin's Delirium Record Store. Their collaborative vision led to releases under a variety of alias' on Azuli, Nervous Records, Relief Records and David Morales's Definity Records. More recently Dole & KOM have found a home on 3000 Grad Records, Bar 25 Music, Moonbootique and Stil Vor Talent, where their unique take on deep house has flourished. Now making a welcome debut on Inspired By Trees, Dole & KOM provide a stunning interpretation of 'Diversity'. Beginning with organic beats and spirited rhythms, it's the warmth and fluidity of the groove which becomes instantly compelling. Perfectly contoured and full of great character, it anchors what is a pulsating, percussive and highly evocative slice of progressive house. The vocal elements get utilized to perfection, sitting against a symphonic backdrop as the main break unfolds, before a timely re-entry sparks an exhilarating finale. Also making her label debut is Freya who provides the second interpretation of 'Diversity'. The Swiss artist lays claim to a short but impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Off Recordings, Spirit Soul Records and Toolroom. Now making her first appearance on Inspired By Trees she takes 'Diversity' into tech house territory. On a backbone of buoyant beats and choppy percussion comes retro grooves and solemn overlays. Fluid, bouncy and tastefully nostalgic, it's a piece that moves through a variety of rhythmic motifs, while the vocal gets chopped and reprocessed for further depth and soul. Building through momentous drive and dynamic drum fills the energy is boundless, before eventually melting down into a filtered break, sealing it's dance floor appeal. Rounding out the release and returning for their second appearance is Dirty Sandwich. Hailing from Baden, Switzerland, Sven and Jay Phonic make up the Dirty Sandwich production duo. Having the distinction of being a live hardware only act, Sven and Jay embrace the concept of playing electronic music live on stage without the use of any computers. This freeform creativity is something which is evident in their productions, perhaps none more notable than 'Danish'. Released in May of 2018 it was the inaugural release on Inspired By Trees and also received a remix from storied German producer Robert Babicz. Now returning to the label for their first remix Dirty Sandwich caps the release off with a superb interpretation of 'Diversity'. The duo effortlessly blends warehouse style beats, dub techno and progressive sensibilities for a production that's perfectly suited to a wide assortment of A-list DJs. Timely stabs, luminous tones and percussive flurries build a robust framework, before a well contoured groove locks down a lively cadence. Haunting atmospherics drift in and out of the stereo field, gently elevating the mood, while a cascading theme and vocal fragment highlight the main break, before effortlessly shifting energy into a purring finale. A timeless interpretation from Dirty Sandwich which rounds out a diverse release from Paege and Inspired By Trees that's not to be missed.
