Releases Jamie Stevens – Filigree / Vigilant [Lost & Found] By Release Promo Posted on 29th November 2020 7 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Guy J's Lost & Found Records enters the final month of the year by welcoming Jamie Stevens back to the label for his first original project. It was just over five years ago that the award winning Australian artist first appeared on the Malta based imprint. Jamie's tripped out, musical take on Khen's 'Secret Shining' remains one of the label's more intriguing selections, and with progressive music's further lean into organic sounds it has only gotten better with age. Now following a prolific year highlighted by releases for Bedrock, Dreaming Awake, Proton Music, Songspire and Upon. You, Jamie returns to Lost & Found with 'Filigree / Vigilant'. Coming in smooth yet pacey it's 'Filigree' which gets the release underway. Played out over nine magical minutes, Jamie's inimitable style resonates brightly with a spontaneous flow of clustered motifs, jangly hooks and dusty effects, all laid out perfectly over a hip swinging groove, while a backdrop of placid atmospheres adds depth and emotion. There will undoubtedly be comparisons to Jamie's 'The Wonder of You', and they'll be apt, both excelling with their whimsical flair, but this has more of a live, free flowing vibe about it and a shade less grandiose in delivery, which proves quite fitting for the musical time we're living in. The companion piece 'Vigilant' finds Jamie pairing with Budakid who is no stranger to the label having delivered EPs in 2018 and 2019. Also enjoying an incredible year, the Berlin resident's 2020 resume has been highlighted by releases on Anjunadeep, Disco Halal and Watergate Records. 'Vigilant' finds the duo uniting for a vibrant slice of progressive techno. Although the tempo shifts down a touch it's equally lively and perhaps more robust, with a buoyant, muscular bass line and bustling percussion laying the foundation for a storyboard of colourful effects and fragmented melodies. Incredibly detailed, it's a production to continue to discover new things about several listens over, putting a perfect end to a triumph return to Lost & Found for Jamie Stevens. Highly recommended.
