Simos Tagias – Vacuum [Dopamine White]

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White continues a strong year by welcoming Simos Tagias to the label for a new single. Since first emerging nearly a decade ago, the Greek artist has continued to earn the praise of progressive music tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Revered imprints such as Higher States, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, meanwhile, Proton Music, Replug and Sudbeat have all served as recent landing spots for his groovy melodic sound. Dopamine Music has also been a comfortable home for the Simos, having released eight originals and two remixes since making his debut in 2013 with a contribution to the label's VA Compilation 001. Now, following his latest vehicle for Meanwhile, Simos makes his debut on Dopamine's White division with 'Vacuum', alongside a remix from label boss Nikko.Z.

The original mix leads the release off in impressive fashion and only furthers Simos' dancefloor minded ethos. Cruising effortlessly across the first movement, there's a strong sense of flow as flashing percussion and growling effects set the course for a room-rocking bassline to deliver a magic moment. Hazy melodic clusters and emerging atmospheres continue to elevate anticipation and mood as the main break takes shape, before a tastefully poignant lead theme spearheads a euphoric finale.

The release concludes with Nikko.Z providing the lone interpretation of 'Vacuum'. The Greek artist and Dopamine White label boss has been a fixture of the progressive house community for the better part of two decades. As one of his country's most recognized artists Nikko has taken his groovy sound to Movement Recordings, Or Two Strangers, Sound Avenue and Sudbeat Music, while also earning support from world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Although very selective with his projects of late, 2023 has seen Nikko re-emerge with a well-received single for Movement Limited. Now, presenting his first remix of the year, Nikko delivers a stunning rendition of 'Vacuum'. Taking square aim at the dancefloor, Nikko's creative attitude reveals itself; as he adds greater atmospheric depth and steers effortlessly into emotive territory as grooves pulse and effects orbit. A fuzzed out take on the lead melody only adds to its poignant quality as the main break takes shape, eventually giving way to glowing pads and filtered sonics, as the groove crashes down for an epic finale to cap the release off on a huge note.
