Sergey Muzarks – Timeless [Soundteller Records]

Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes more fresh talent to the label with Sergey Muzarks making his debut. The Russian artist first appeared on the electronic underground in December of last year with an EP via CJ Art's Deepersense Music. Subsequent releases for Freegrant Music and Outta Limits have propelled Sergey into one of his country's top up and coming progressive house artists. Now continuing that momentum the Moscow resident debuts on Soundteller with 'Timeless'.

Spread across two tracks it’s the peak time sensibility of the title selection which gets the EP underway. Electric rhythms and a solemn overlay set the tone, as a bed of warm beats and immaculately carved bass drops in. Tastefully executed, it’s poignant arps, indistinct vocals and glowing pads highlight the first act. The break finds the melodic narrative open up even more with a grandiose lead line elevating emotion before getting washed away in a classic build and charged final act.

The companion piece 'Contemplation' operates in a similar sonic plane and is equally excellent. Perhaps a touch tougher and more deliberate at the outset it's a cinematic canopy and playful arps that quickly take you into more emotive territory. Once again indistinct vocals play a role, tastefully adding emotion at key moments while the main break brings a heartfelt vibe to finish the release off on a reflective note. It rounds out a sensational EP from Sergey who continues to rise with his Soundteller debut. Highly recommended.
