MAM (AR) & Cosmosolar – Reference [Soundteller Records]

MAM (AR) & Cosmosolar present their debut collaborative project via Deersky's Soundteller Records. The Argentinean duo own a collective discography highlighted by releases on 3rd Avenue, Bullfinch, Massive Harmony Records and Michael A's Genesis Music. Now both considered two of their countries most promising progressive house talents they land on Soundteller Records with a three track EP entitled 'Reference'.

Both artists come from a progressive background but not in the purest sense of word and it shows across these three varied selections with the title cut drifting into melodic techno territory. It's more minimalistic framework is tight and punchy with finely tuned percussion and uniquely textured arps. A trippy vocal sample adds depth as the narrative evolves before the final break brings further astral qualities to round out the track.

The second selection 'Interference' comes in with a much deeper and smoother groove overall. The design qualities and percussion remain on the astral and organic side respectively, while tightly wound arps intertwine for a narrative that is both hypnotic and emotive.

The release concludes with 'Feline Bot' which veers more towards a traditional progressive house groove with rolling rhythms and classic chord changes. Where it stands out is it's esoteric themes and exotic percussion, both of which it has in spades. A storyboard of modulation proves to be the most sensory saturating though, leading nicely into a more melodious break before resetting for a groovy finale. It rounds out three unique and inspired creations from MAM and Cosmosolar, who have certainly found a good synergy with their debut collaborations. Let's hope there are more to come in the future. Highly recommended.
