Releases Kay-D – Heads Above [SoulArt Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 23rd July 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Kay-D makes a welcome return to SoulArt Recordings this week with ‘Heads Above’. The Hungarian artist last appeared on the Hungarian imprint in October of 2017 with a contribution to the label’s ADE Sampler. Long regarded for his old school melodies, Kay-D now returns to SoulArt with a new single alongside remixes from East Cafe, No One Name, Underground Ticket. As you would expect the original mix comes with many of Kay-D’s most loved production hallmarks. From it’s beefy, effervescent groove to shimmering atmospheric storyboard there is a lot to get locked into but it’s the melodic progression which is most compelling. After gentle themes wash over the first act a more sparkling motif highlights the break, bringing with it soul and emotion, before playing out wonderfully over a deep and driving finale. The remixes all add something quite nice as well with progressive house veteran East Cafe leading the way. The Hungarian artist and Hernan Cattaneo favourite brings a smoother, more pure progressive feel to the track with a warm, fluid low end and emotive chord changes. There’s something quite mystical about this version, the atmospheric backdrop adds a wonderful cinematic sense, particularly following the break where the mood seems to get elevated with each successive loop. Next up No One Name makes his label debut following strong outings on BC2 and Symmetric Records. The Peruvian artist adds great variety to the release with a breakbeat interpretation which strips the track right down and focuses on some darker motifs. It’s such a spacious production that all the elements sound enormous, especially the buzzing low end. Not without emotive moments the main break does present a variation on the lead theme which lifts the mood but keeps the underlying drama perfectly. Closing the release out is Underground Ticket who is also making his label debut. The Hungarian artist has found a home on Stellar Fountain where the majority of his music has come out since appearing on the scene in 2012. For his SoulArt debut he provides a great rendition of ‘Heads Above’ to the close the release out in style. The tempo comes up a touch but the vibe is exceptionally smooth and deep. The percussion has a lovely rolling cadence about it and the shifty harmonics play off it beautifully, while the main melodies add just the right amount of emotion. Gorgeous remix from Underground Ticket which caps off a lovely summer release for SoulArt Recordings. Don’t miss it.
