Releases John Rayet & Cusp – Words [Polyptych] By Release Promo Posted on 2nd June 2020 6 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release from Polyptych welcomes John Rayet & Cusp to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Switzerland and New Zealand respectively, this marks John's first ever release under his new alias, while Cusp has found a home on Intellect Records, NACHT and PRDS Direct since first arriving in 2017. Now coming together for their first collaboration, John and Cusp present 'Words' alongside remixes from Pysh and Naanù. The mystical vibes of the original set the tone for the entire release. Intriguing vocal samples and a warped yet incredibly catchy lead hook are immediately striking. Linear and stomping, it's dance floor appeal is undeniable and a concise six minute running time only accentuates that. Simplicity is the key and a well crafted break which expands on the vocal narrative, while building anticipation through subtle modulation add just the right shift in energy for a pleasant dance floor romp. First up on the remixes is Pysh who is widely regarded for his releases on BeatFreak Recordings, DAYS like NIGHTS, Einmusika and Tale & Tone. Now making his Polyptych debut the Berlin resident provides a groovy take on 'Words'. Anchored by tough beats and buzzing electronics, it’s got immediate peak time appeal. Rhythmic tones, buoyant bass stabs and a slightly less distinct take on the vocals make for a groovy first act. Cymbal rides do wonders for momentum leading into the main break, where the processed vocals drift amidst a wave of noise, ultimately sparking a powerful drop. Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of 'Words' is Naanù. As a core label artist the French producer has appeared on the Russian imprint five times since making his debut in December of 2017. Now following an EP for Carton-Pate Records to begin the year Naanù returns to Polyptych with a techno inspired take on 'Words'. The tempo shifts up a touch and the astral aesthetics get accentuated through trippy arps and timely effects. Tantalizing tones along with the vocal narrative and a cinematic air keep your attention locked, before the main break resets the groove for a smooth, spaced out finale. Definitely one to put your dance floor in a trance, capping off what is another great offering from Polyptych. Highly recommended.
